For the record

My cells don't seem to enjoy aplasia.

So I'm out of the hospital at J15, before new year's eve (THIS is for the record)

Not going back long term before Feb 2nd.

Will keep you posted.

free

...

5 days and high doses of aracytine later, kAri was out in the wild again.

For a short period probably, 5 to 6 days, but at least she gets to spend Christmas eve with her family.

Of course, she has to avoid every rhinitis, gastroenteritis, fever and other diseases that run in Paris, or she will have go back to the hospital asap.

flight delayed

My flight to next chemo was supposed to be on monday, Nov 24th.
It is delayed to december 15th.

Blood test results are excellent and we don't have bone marrow test results yet, but doctors are expecting the best (from the best girl!).

Am afraid Christmas is going to be at the hospital.

white cells home

It is nice to be home.

Feels like i'm back in my teens, eating a lot (believe it or not), sleeping a lot, busy growing from the inside.

That is mainly what i will do for the next 2 weeks.

White cells growing

Bone marrow pain, have you ever experienced that?
It’s the nice-to-have-pain because it means bone marrow is regenerating white cells. I’ve been sooooooo waiting for these to grow.
Seems GOOH day (get out of here day) is approaching.

the advantages of not having hair

- Can pretend I am Demi Moore

To all blog readers

The good news is: my brother is HLA compatible.
This means that, as he is the best bone marrow donor for me, I will have a bone marrow transplant.
This is not going to be easy, but it is the best prognosis in my group (regarding the disease type, age…) versus chemotherapy.
Transplant is supposed to take place early January 09.

The bad news is: I am ready to join the army. I already have the haircut.
Can’t look at my face/head in the mirror.
Please, spare the “it will grow stronger” because it drives me nuts.

I had a dream…

the dream that hair would stay on head did not come true.
I have now the hair cut I had in 2000-2001, but I think I’ll have the hair cut the guys had before entering the army, by the end of the week.

D13.
Hair is still on head but I feel countdown has begun.
I heard only one 17-year-old patient never lost her hair. I’m kinda hoping I’ll be the 2nd…

broadcasting from the bubble, kAri en direct

hey all,
As I’m starting to have blog groupies, I’m going to start broadcasting from the bubble. At least as long as I’m feeling good.
Maybe I can turn into a kAri Bradshaw (have been watching too many “Sex and the City” the last days) and go: “what is normality? Can any of us pretend to be normal?”
