Berlin is cute and Beirut is hot

Berlin is cute and rich in sausages.
Berlin is quiet but has an unsuspected underground life.
Berlin is young and is healing from its history.

Beirut is hot and has not changed.
Hummous is still good and eating is my main activity.
Bars and nightclubs are still full and girls have big lips, big breasts, big hair, small skirts and small shirts.

Vacation is coming to an end and I'm flying back to Paris on Friday.

Summer results are good!

Summer results are good and my doctor is happy. Man! I live according to my doctor's temper of the day.

Today brings a lot of news:
- Blood tests are good, liver and kidneys are good.

- Food and social restrictions are being removed one by one progressively, and we will get our cat back soon (the Princess is away on vacation with Nico's parents). My first restaurant is going to be an Italian restaurant and I'm going to have a pizza. I have been planning this for weeks. Pizza is the only thing that doesn't taste better at home than at the restaurant.

- Even though I have already been working from home, I will go back to work "offically" on Sept 1st. The doctor is not so happy with me taking the metro during flu epidemics, and I can see a lot of work from home which is good.

- I am flying to Beirut somewhere around August 9th. I am happy because I'm going to have tabbouleh (so many little pleasures).

In the mean time I will get Nico back from his trip in Japan and we will visit Salzburg first week of August.

smooches to all.

100%

Dear all,

I finally have the results I have been waiting for and they are good.
My cells are 100% donnor cells which is good.

I am now reaching 7 on the Richter scale of energy and I am starting to use my brains for small office tasks.

I will be going to Beirut around August 8th and hope to see some of you there.

This is one good news for today. The 2nd good news is Maf's birthday!

Happy birthday Maf.
Smooches.

Special dedicace pour Gugu

Hi all,

For all we know results are still good.
We are waiting for decisive results at the end of May, but a priori, they should be good.

We went to Brussels for the we to see Gad Elmaleh 's one man show and it was great.
From there, Nico got on a plane to Lisbon (supposedly for conferences...) and Gugu and I headed back to Paris.

Around Cambrai our car stopped on the highway. That was our "betise", we were out of gas.
Interesting hein?

I have crossed new frontiers: I am ready for new adventures.

D80

I look a little sad on the picture but I am not.

Results are still good, sun is still shining and hair is growing.

Mum and Japanese cherry blossom

D66

It's not Route 66 but it is Day 66 today... (wahaha, my humour is coming back).
Results are good and the next important milestone is a series of exams on May 14.
A decrease in the quantity of medicine will follow hopefully.

In the mean time I'm doing ok. Still tired but less, still cold but less.
My mom is still here for help.

Weekly updates II

The doctor says I am clinically well and biologically excellent.
This is good news for doctors, I guess...

In reality I am tiiiiiiiiiiiiiired as have never been, passing from couch to bed to armchair to bed.
In reality I am coooooold as if in the middle of Januray, wearing 2 sweaters indoors and my ski equipment outdoors.
In reality I have been out for 3 weeks and it feels like I'm not improving.

... not so funny to have a bone marrow graft...

Weekly updates

Results are good: liver and kidneys are ok, graft is ok.
For now I have no GVH events and my doctor is happy.
Only taste and smell will not come back to normal before 3 weeks and I'm looking forward to this because everything I eat tastes like plastic.

I am starting to go out again and walk in the park.
I walk for an hour, not the marathon style but rather the "old lady" style.

:)

1st month

My graft is one month-old.
Happy birthday!
So far so good regarding tolerance issues.

Insomnia

Is it cells growing too loud?
Is it medication-induced disorder?
Is it tea overdose (most probably)?

...and I'm awake and not at all on the way back to sleep...

Really free at last...

I'm back home.

The deal with the doctor was : one more day in the bubble and one less day at the hospital.

So I was back home yesterday, very tired, in the dust of "parquet and peinture" but still, very happy.

I lost at lot of weight and muscle and still have some nausea episodes, but I'm ok.

For some time, I will have to go back twice a week (starting tomorrow) for GVH surveillance.

Disappointment

And one patient entered in emergency this morning, and they gave him MY room, so I’m stuck in the bubblĂ©…

Monday, March 2, 2009

Free at last…

I’m almost free, at last...
I’m out of the bubble!
Can’t sleep anymore since the nurse said that no “night emergency patient” took the room that was reserved for me outside of the bubble.

So I’m back to a normal room, for 2 or 3 days max.
And then back home, forever, hopefully.

The day Mic’s cells started to grow

People,
Mic’s cells started to grow. Actually they started 2 days ago but doctors only wait the “official” threshold to announce that I’m out of aplasia, again.
This time, these are not my cells (graft), so please, let us welcome them in the host (me).
Clapclapclapclap.
This means that
- mucitis is regressing at the speed of light (yet I hurt myself on the lip and bled and this was disgusting)
- I’m starting to be hungry but can’t eat yet (mucitis is regressing, not gone yet)
- We are now passing to the next fun step: waiting for GVHD (Graft versus host disease)

:)

Mucitis

The more you hear about me,
the more you can assume inflammation of oral tissues is getting better

Tse-tse and other diseases

Save your phone calls for later.

I have a huge gum/tongue/tonsil/whatever-there-is-in-there inflammation.

I am given morphin to cope with, but as a result, I sleep all day.

Till D15.

- I am very tired but I am doing well

Going back...

Going back for a trip in the bubble, at least for 4 weeks.

So, the blog will be updated more often than in January.

I'm keeping my cell phone and getting a new 3G card asap.

I'm not keeping my small growing hair, but that, i'm used to.

Talk to you soon,

kAri

HNY09

I can put it on anemia and low platelets (Dr chikeb, please define...) but deep inside I know this nausea comes from overeating, overdrinking and over-a-partying

May 2009 be better than 2008 to all of you

Best wishes and happy new year
